Harvest Sample Program for spring-harvested canola

The Canadian Grain Commission has restarted its project researching the quality of late-harvested (i.e. spring harvested) canola and flax. This research helps us understand what happens to canola quality if the crop stays out all winter. Growers who participate also get an unofficial grade that can help with marketing. Find out more about the program and how to submit samples.

The CGC does note that while the lab is back up and running after a COVID-19 slow down, it is not in full swing. Results may take a little longer.

A lot of the spring-harvested canola has been or soon will be taken care of, given the nicer weather. But just in case, here’s an article from March called “What to do with unharvested canola acres?”
