Reminder: Compile notes

In the weeks leading up to harvest, growers may have some times to review their notes, or finalize their notes, on the season so far. Accurate notes on seeding date, rate, fertilizer, weather, pest observations, crop stand, in-crop actions (dates, rates, products) and more will be invaluable for winter planning and management decisions in future years.

Paper notebooks are handy and cheap but transferring notes to Excel spreadsheets or scouting software can make for easy reference and provide backup.

CCC agronomy specialists had quite a few calls this summer on potential herbicide carryover damage. With good notes on herbicides applied over the years, as well as dates, rates and weather conditions, it can be much easier to piece together the problem and explain why issues might occur in one field and not another.
