Coming events

Meeting season has begun. Here are canola meetings for November, as well as some “mark your calendar” suggestions for the new year.

Alberta

November 19-December 10. Alberta Canola Producers Commission will host its 12 district Canola Grower Meetings, starting November 19 in Grimshaw and ending December 10 in Marwayne. Click here for complete details on dates, locations and registration.

December 3-4: Farming Smarter Conference, Lethbridge. Click here for details.

February 19-21: CanoLAB 2014, Olds. Registration has not begun.

Saskatchewan

November 12-13. Grain Expo, which is part of Agribition in Regina. CCC agronomy specialists Clint Jurke and Shawn Senko will present the topic “Applying Science and Technology for Improved Canola Yields”. Click here for the full speaker line up and other information about Grain Expo.

November 19-21. Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture will have three Agrologist Updates, November 19 in Rosetown, November 20 in Swift Current and November 21 in Moose Jaw.  CCC agronomy specialist Clint Jurke is on the program, speaking about blackleg and clubroot. Registration is $20 and includes lunch.  Please register by November 12 by calling the Swift Current Saskatchewan Agriculture office at 306-778-8285.

November 27-28. SaskCanola will hold two regional producer meetings in November:
November 27, Humboldt
November 28, Stoughton

March 5-6: CanoLAB 2014 in Saskatoon. Registration has not begun.

March 11-12: Soils and Crops at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon. The annual Soils and Crops Workshop is a two day event offering updates on current research being conducted in the areas of soils, crops and economics by researchers, faculty and graduate students from across western Canada. Manitoba

November 25-26: MCGA and FCC will host a seminar called “Put Mobile Technology to Work on Your Farm” at two locations, Winkler November 25 and Brandon November 26. Click here for more information.

November 29 and December 3: Clubroot  Biosecurity Workshops. MAFRI will host workshops at various locations on these days. Contact your nearest GO Office for details.  Manitoba producers may be eligible for funds to help achieve improved on-farm biosecurity, but they must attend a biosecurity workshop, complete a self assessment and develop a plan to address biosecurity on their farm to be eligible for this funding.
