Improperly cleaned sprayer tank means crop damage

We’ve had reports this week of growers causing unexpected damage to canola because the sprayer was not cleaned properly. A complete system cleanout is important and using more than just clean water can help. Check product labels to see which cleaner is recommended. For some, ammonia alone is enough. For some, a detergent (surfactant) alone is enough. For others, a combination of both is required.

The longer a herbicide sits in a sprayer, the greater the risk that it is going to hang up in the tank. Sprayers should be cleaned a the end of every work day regardless if the same product or tank mix is being sprayed the following day.
