Ag Days, Brandon, January 15-17

Ag Days is at the Keystone Centre in Brandon, Manitoba. Canola Day is January 15. Angela Brackenreed, CCC agronomy specialist for Manitoba, will speak that morning at 9:00 a.m. at the MNP Theatre, providing an overview on how canola production went in 2012 in Manitoba. Why growers should attend Angela’s talk: She will talk about reasons for the poorer canola yields in 2012 and management options for 2013. She will discuss potential causes and possible remedies for aster yellows, blackleg, sclerotinia, excessive moisture, excessive heat, and insects.

As part of canola morning at Ag Days, you can also hear David Drozd, President & Senior Market Analyst, Ag-Chieve, provide a “Canola Market Update” at 9:50 and David Chilton, author of “The Wealthy Barber,” provide tips on how to handle money more wisely. Sunrise Credit Union, Ag Days Committee and MCGA sponsored David Chilton’s talk and MCGA will have 800 copies of “The Wealthy Barber” to give away.

Ag Days has many other topics canola growers will find useful, including Scott Chalmers, Diversification Technician, MAFRI, speaking at the MNP Theatre 10:00 a.m. on Thursday on “Planting Peas and Canola Together to Make More Money” and a grower panel Thursday at 11:15 at the MNP Theatre on “Seeking Efficiencies in Canola Production via Precision Planters.”
