Attend our Seeding for Success webinar

Canola growers who need to make last minute seed and fertilizer purchases, and who are wondering about seeding rates for large-sized seed, will benefit from a Canola Council of Canada (CCC) webinar this Thursday.

The CCC’s agronomy team will host the one-hour webinar, called “Seeding for Success,” this Thursday, May 3, at 9:00 a.m. CDT.

Click here to register. Registration is free, but limited.

Attendees will have a chance to ask questions. CCAs who attend will qualify for 1 CEU in Crop Management.

The webinar will dedicate 15 minutes each to three topics:

Last minute seed purchases. CCC agronomy specialist Shawn Senko will explain how the Canola Performance Trials website can help growers compare variety performance.

Fertilizer tips. CCC agronomy specialist Dan Orchard will help growers answer questions such as: How much fertilizer does canola need, given current fertilizer prices? What are the safe seed-placed rates? How do I top up fertilizer if field moisture and crop yield potential is better than expected at seeding time?

Achieving a dense and uniform stand. CCC agronomy specialist Doug Moisey will give tips on how to maximize emergence rates and stand uniformity. He will also work through the thought process of figuring out seed rates, explaining how to achieve at least 5 healthy plants per square foot when seed size is 5-6 grams per 1,000.
