Management and more at International Clubroot Workshop

The 2018 International Clubroot Workshop is August 7-9 in Edmonton, Alberta.

Registration and information

Day 3 is about research-supported agronomy practices farmers can use to prevent and manage clubroot. The organizing team is considering presentations that will help answer these questions and more: How does clubroot spread and how to slow or stop it? What is the critical spore count for action? How to identify clubroot patches and properly define their borders? What are the best methods to reduce spore counts and reduce clubroot risk within these patches? The goals for Day 3 are to provide practical and research-based management techniques for immediate deployment and to identify key areas that require more study.

The workshop brings together leading researchers, extension staff and industry stakeholders (including canola growers) to develop further understanding and advance new sustainable solutions to this major canola disease.

As a member of the International Clubroot Workshop Organizing Committee, the CCC is working on a program plan that features sessions on the latest in breeding and genetics, genomics and host-pathogen interactions, epidemiology, clubroot resistance and disease management as well as two hands-on field tours focused on clubroot management. Content will be relevant to canola growers, agricultural retailers, seed companies, agronomists, academics, government and other industry stakeholders.
