Canola Watch quiz: Disease ID

This stage of the season, when plants are close to mature but still green, is a good time to identify diseases. Diseases, if present, are often advanced enough to see fairly easily. And by identifying specific diseases present, you can use this information to review management practices in the current year and plan management – including rotation and genetic resistance decisions – for next year.

Can you identify these diseases?

1. These small black peppercorn-like pellets inside (or sometimes on the outside of) stems are a symptom of what disease infection?
2. What does the discolouration on the top stem represent?
3. What is this darkening inside the stem cross-section?
4. This is a fairly mild case of what disease?
